[...] My G9 uses a simple letter-boxing method of turning out widescreen images, so the width of the image remains at it’s maximum 4000 pixel resolution, but the height of the photograph is reduced down to the new proportion. Since it is a post-process step of sorts, this also means that the camera can only save in JPEG while shooting in the widescreen format; The RAW file needs to contain the entire 4:3 pixel data dump from the sensor.
Thank you, Sir. You're right, most of the compositions are very simple. I guess I tend towards them because they are the ones that never get old, and also they're the easiest ones to automatically use when you don't have the luxury of time. Your basic simple compositions can really be the work-horses of your repertoire, so good observation.

I did do a good amount to post processing here. But almost all of it was very straight-forward stuff, with no complex touch-ups or modifications. Everything I did here are the kind of things a good print maker in the good old chemical days would have used to get the best out of a promising negative in the dark room.

I chose the sets of images per sub topic and decided on how I would treat each set, so what you can see here is either given a proper colour treatment, a conversion to black and white, or a cross-processing effect. That last one also comes from a dark-room trick, and they are the images with a blue-yellow cast. Adds an interesting twist to some images.

It was quite a lot of fun to work on such a large collection of images. Time consuming, but very worth the effort.

Hey Samir,

Its strange to see more photographs than text on your page. Im not complaining. Ive always been interested and wondered how Vishal and you can turn seemingly plain compositions into gems using PP or that slight deviation of focus. I laav it!

Thank you!

The plant shots are always dear to me as well, and I do end up taking many pictures of the subject. I guess I can blame it on my fascination with all things plant and tree. I get less of a chance to indulge in my photographic-flora-stalking while I'm in Dubai; This is not exactly a paradise of foliage. But, when you're out in the desert or in the mountains after a rain, you can spot some very interesting looking grasses, flowers and shrubs. Also, the climactic extremes make most of these plants fleeting and very seasonal, which makes them even more of a surprise find.

Glad you liked it, Magali.

I'll certainly put up more as the inspiration strikes. I always have plenty of images in my collection, but it does take time to clean them up to finished state. And I usually like to make everything I put up here about something in particular. This collection ended up being a bit of a photography lesson, so good to know that part worked too. :)
